16MM FILM PRODUCTION ON THE
AATON LTR CAMERA
2 three hour lessons, 2+day camera rental, 1 private editing lesson, film stock, lab processing & screening party
In this workshop offering, participants will learn the contemporary film to film workflow for capturing, processing, editing, and projecting on 16mm using the motor driven Aaton LTR camera. We'll begin by reviewing the camera basics; exposure, lenses, then learn how to load a co-axial magazine in a load-bag, how to focus, run, maintain and operate the Aaton LTR camera. We'll cover current options and manufacturers of B/W and COLOR camera stocks then schedule your 2+ day rental of the camera package with 200ft of the film stock of your choice (FOMA 100R, B/W REVERSAL or V3 KODAK COLOR NEGATIVE FILM & WORK PRINT). After your shoot, you'll learn how to load and operate the EIKI SSL-O Projector, and schedule an individualized lesson on editing on using the STEENBECK flat-bed editing table. You will complete the workshop with the knowledge and skill set to operate the camera, select the proper film stock for your needs, how to project 16mm and how to edition your work on film! We will also discuss how to promote your short piece through a list of friendly film festivals. All materials will be provided for. It’s 3 workshops in one; Aaton LTR Camera, Eiki Projection Basics, Steenbeck Flatbed editing, PLUS a 2.5-Day rental of a beautiful camera kit, with 200’ of 16mm motion picture film, linear lab processing and work print, plus a private editing session in the facilities. Finished projects will be presented after the conclusion of the course at our screening party at a venue TBA.

APRIL 7th -9th rental session #2 pick up 7th as early as 10 am and drop off WED. APRIL 9th before 5 pm at MONO HQ
APRIL 10th -12th rental session #3 pick up 10th as early as 10 am and drop off SUN. APRIL 12th before 5 pm at MONO HQ

WEDNESDAY APRIL 30th from 7 -10 PM - EIKI PROJECTOR & STEENBECK FLATBED EDITING - Learn to operate the projector to watch your raw footage. Learn the Steenbeck flatbed editing table, CIRO guillotine splicer and editing basics. + 4 hour Editing Sessions to be scheduled individually during early May to prepare for your premiere screening in June.

INCLUDES: 2- three hour classroom instruction sessions, 2.5-day Aaton LTR camera package rental (lens, light meter, mag), Eiki Projector workshop, editing workshop on Steenbeck Flatbed editing table, Four hour editing session at our facilities, 200 feet of your choice of 16MM film stock and LAB processing, fully timed color work print and or B/W reversal print, access to flat-bed editing equipment and supplies. 16mm projectors, informational course packet, scan of all raw footage, additional scan of edited film by MONO, Vimeo hosting of finished film, local & international film festival entry waivers plus a premiere screening in Manhattan. All services included with the hard costs of this workshop make it valued well over $2000. This workshop has been made affordable and accessible with support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) individual donors and patrons in the community.
