El Ojo, La Boca, El Ano is a live audio-visual sexual education lecture produced by The School of Radical Anthropology for the promotion of healthy habits in children ages 5 to 25 which will lead you through the parable of The Eye and The Mouth. The conjoined twins, born with an eye and a mouth for heads, are separated after their birth by their overbearing father. The complex story begins with their separation in the back lot of the ﾒTomorrowlandﾓ theme park, the twins are then enslaved to work in eyeglass and toothpaste ads they grow divided yet secretly longing for each other. When the economy falls apart and the market for toothpaste mouths and eyeglass eyes disappears, they meet each other again at the Pay Per View battle organized by their Father as a last ditch attempt at a profit. Will the war between the eyes and the mouths bring the siblings together? Will they claim revenge on their father? Or will they succumb to the violence of battle? Perhaps the ghosts of the dead will rise from the ground and cut down the Father by the roots, like an ancient tree.

Organizers:
Juan David Gonzalez Monroy was born in Bogota, Columbia. He moved to New York to pursue a graduate degree in Media Studies at The New School. While in New York he joined the Brooklyn Chapter of the Hole Worshippers, practicing under the guidance of Zero Edmundo V. His work has been exhibited at festivals and galleries in Columbia and New York. His work encompasses film, video, animation & painting.

Julio Monterrey is a musician/composer/artist currently based in New York. His recent work includes more -honest- and experimental pieces. After four years tour with Maynard Ferguson, Julio has been composing original works for a number of online institutions. He is a member of the video production futurists ﾒm ss ngp ecesﾓ which has afforded him the opportunity to create work for TED, Mountain Dew, Coolhunting.com, Sundance, Wired & many others.

+ ETCHING WITH LIGHT / SUPER 8MM FILM PROJECTION & LIVE MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT / DAVID MASON & JOHN DAVIS (RAY SOHN, COLLABORATOR)

Beautifully constructed, this performance plays with the duality of the screen as a surface to reflect and capture light. Shot in Super 8mm black and white, the subject – Ray Shon – illustrates with light. The soundtrack for the film will be performed live by David Mason and John Davis using an assortment of tape loops, acoustic instruments and analogue synthesizers.

Organizers:
David Mason was born in Ireland and having developed an interest in drumming at an early age, went to study music at the Hochschule fur Musik Koln in Germany, and the New School in New York. While composing electronic music in NYC he stumbled upon film as an alternative mode of expression. The time he spent experimenting has lead to a series of short films and music videos. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

John Davis is an accomplished producer and bass player who performs with JoJo Mayer’s NERVE and is co-owner of The Bunker Studio in Williamsburg.

Ray Sohn frequently collaborates with a range of artists from a number of disciplines. His silkscreen book, created in conjunction with Panayiotis Terzis Panray, has been exhibited in Greece, Istanbul, New York and can be found in the collections of MOMA, Brooklyn Museum, and New York Public Library.

Honey Bed is an intimate portrayal of Syni Pappa in a period of wild depression. The actresses in the film represent her two conflicting moods. Their interaction with the objects around them is calm, playful, yet raw & genuine. To further invite you into her world, this one reel super 8 black and white film shot straight with no retakes or editing will be projected on a canopy of a bed in which the performers will play the original score.

Organizers:
Syni Pappa is a filmmaker from Europe. She lives in Athens, Greece and was born near Cologne. She studied Filmmaking in London, Social Anthropology in Athens and the art of being a full time outsider in Serres. She makes films in various forms & mediums always emphasizing the personal expression. Her films are imperfect and personal. A collection of her films has been released under the title: Experiments In Minor Means & Matters.

Myrto Karapiperi is a costume & set designer born in Athens. Daughter of the legendary Greek production designer Mikes Karapiperis, she has worked on films since she was 15 years old specializing in historical dramas. Myrto runs her own costume house in Athens which includes one of the largest & most rare collections of vintage clothing and accessories.

Anna Maria Rammou, also sighted as AMR or AM(ou)R was born in Athens. She has studied chemistry, photography, music, film and acting. She has mainly worked as photographer, actress and model for various painters and photographers in Athens. Am(ou)R is a part-time traveler and full-time muse to artists like Anna Tangalou & Syni Pappa.

+ LUNAR FLARE / SUPER 8MM PROJECTION & LIVE SPOKEN WORD & TOY SYNTHESIZERS / JULIE BUCK & LEVI RUBECK

This film has been hand processed, hand dyed & scraped to blend together scenes of green space, urban space and interiors of New York City. The poem -lunar flare- will be read live by the author, as well as accompanied by an atonal piece on cello and synthesizers to create a connection between visuals, language and sound.

Organizers:
Julie Buck is a long time critic, archivist and filmmaker. She was the former head of film preservation at the Harvard Film Archive and has taught numerous film courses in New York and Boston. She is currently completing her MFA at Columbia University.

Levi Rubeck is a poet, critic and musician from the mean prairies of Wyoming. He formerly held the position of Editor-in-Chief of Washington Square Review and taught creative writing to kids in Queens and the Bronx as a Starworks Fellow. Currently he is a teaching artist, corrupting the youth with poetry.

+ SPILLWAY STUDY/CARPE DIEZ / 16MM FILM MULTI-PROJECTION, LIVE PROJECTION MIXING & COLOR MODIFICATION / ROSS NUGENT

The forces of nature are alternately represented in a pulsating three-part projection. Vibrant colors and pulsating rhythms are worked out by hand using filters and some precise hand jiving. The result is a spell binding remix of natural beauty taken from the archived 1970s footage of naturalist filmmaker Tom Diez.

Organizers:
Ross Nugent earned his BA in Film Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and continued to study film and video production at Pittsburgh Filmmakers where he held the position of Exhibition Curator for three years. Much of his work is rooted in using process oriented techniques such as contact and optical printing or chemical manipulation. His work has screened internationally & nationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art and the Milwaukee Underground Film Festival. He is currently pursuing his MFA in film from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

+ SAFE & SOUND / SUPER 8MM FILM & LIVE 45 VINYL MANIPULATION / RACHAEL RENE ABERNATHY

This Super 8mm film dances and sways to the music. Sound manipulated from an old soul 45 record playing the melody of -Safe & Sound- by Fontella Bass complement the silhouetted images. The scratches and static of the record are visualized on the surface of the original film material.

Organizers:
Rachael Abernathy graduated from San Francisco Art Institute in 2006. Since then she has lived in Paris and currently resides in New York. The body of her work is primarily a blend of films with analog sound. She presents film with live soundtracks in an effort to play with intimacy, immediacy, and indeterminacy. Her work has been presented at San Francisco Cinematheque and Artist Television Access.
