2-D ANIMATION : CUTOUT TECHNIQUE
5 sessions + Screening Party
Learn the roots and basic techniques of two-dimensional paper cutout animation! Students will practice the fundamentals of animation, work to storyboard paper characters for single OR multi-plane animation, and ultimately create their own short film. We will cover a range of techniques and lead each participant through the functions of the Oxberry Animation Stand. MONO will also provide information for constructing a simple animation set up in your own apartment or studio. Participants will be given private access to the animation stand to shoot their work on color 16mm film. Finished projects will be presented after the conclusion of the course at a special premiere screening at Anthology Film Archives. All equipment and materials will be provided for.
TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY: September 17th & 18th, 24th-25th from 7:00 – 9:15 PM
+ 2 hour private shooting session with instructor on the Oxberry Optical Printer.

LOCATION: MONO HQ 33 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn NY 5 min walk from 2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, B, D, N, Q, R, & G trains.

INCLUDES: 3 classroom instruction sessions, 2-hour private shooting session one on one with an instructor, access to the Oxberry Animation table, 16 mm color negative film stock, film processing and color work print by ColorLab, access to associated equipment, all 2-D cutout materials; paper, paints, markers, glue and more, Informational course packet, HD video transfer of film by Metro Post, HD online hosting of finished film, local & international film festival entry waivers. Plus you will premiere your film at Anthology Film Archives at a FREE screening program for friends and family.
