In this 2-day workshop participants will learn the fundamentals of lighting and exposing on B&W 16mm film. This class covers the essentials including: using light as a storytelling tool, using a light meter, understanding film stocks, intro to lighting units, creating contrast and depth through tone, understanding quality of light, controlling light, adjusting light intensity and 3-point lighting. Participants will spend one day working as a group to create lighting set ups followed by a second day of individual lighting setups. Each participant will have time to set up and film their own scene. All film stock, equipment and processing services will be provided. Finished projects will also be presented after the conclusion of the course at our community screenings.

INCLUDES: 2 Classroom sessions with a camera and camera operator. Kodak XX 16MM FILM, B/W negative developing, lab processing, Access to lighting kit and seamless studio for demonstrations. 2K transfer of finished film. Course packet with technical information, online hosting of finished film, local & international film festival entry waivers.
