INTRO TO 35MM MOTION PICTURE FILMMAKING

3 Sessions + Screening Party

In this class participants will gain hands on experience shooting 35mm motion picture film.  Curriculum includes film stock choices, exposure, lenses, how to load, focus, run, maintain and operate the Arri BL3 camera kit.  Participants will spend one evening familiarizing themselves with the camera package, and the weekend will be spent shooting as a collective crew for each other in 3-4 hour sessions.  The goal is to shoot a short film on 35mm which you conceived, directed, and shot independently. We will also discuss how to promote your short piece through a list of friendly film festivals. All materials will be provided for. Finished projects will be presented after the conclusion of the course at our screening party.

FRIDAY: August 3rd  from 7:00 – 9:15 PM
SATURDAY & SUNDAY: August 4th and 5th (DAY SHOOTS) from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

INCLUDES:  1 classroom instruction session with hands on the ARRI BL3 - 4-perf camera kit (+lens and matte-box) provided by DuAll Camera NY,  2-day shoot; part of one day as DP and the other time as crew member for other participants, 1 400 ' roll of Kodak Vision3  35mm film, Delivery of kit to your location (within 15 mile radius of the home office),  ECN linear film processing and 400' Timed work-print by Colorlab, informational course packet, Access to 35mm flatbed editing table for viewing and simple edits, HD transfer of film by Metro Post, HD online hosting of raw film, local & international film festival entry waivers.
