THE FILMS OF AMENNO PROGRAM:
Ibrahim Kargbo showcases 6 diverse projects by Amenno with the filmmakers present. Amenno is dedicated to platforming unique voices, producing creative projects and exhibiting films with sincerity, whilst disrupting the industry by creating an open dialogue between the filmmakers and the audience. A lifelong fascination with storytelling led Ibrahim, at the age of eleven, to craft his first film. This ignited a creative spark that continues to fuel the pursuit of a career in the heart of East London’s dynamic cultural sector. His film making journey has embraced diverse experiences, from studying and mastering analogue formats like Super 8, 16mm and 35mm in South Korea and Portugal, to collaborating on major film and HETV productions. Beyond the commercial film industry, he is a committed member of not/nowhere (https://www.not- nowhere.org/), a London-based POC artist worker’s cooperative, where he facilitates community empowerment through workshops, programs, and exhibitions. Ibrahim particularly champions democratising access to analogue filmmaking, ensuring local artists have the tools and knowledge to flourish in a rapidly evolving media landscape. He’s also a co-founder of Amenno.
PROGRAM:
Klein's Place (2020)
Where does it all begin? How does it all end? Welcome to Klein's Place.
Stood Up (2025)
A quietly observant, single-shot slice of life exploring the nuances of modern romance, loneliness, and unspoken connections in an era of fleeting encounters.
Discordance (2023)
Over three studio sessions, a dancer battles self-doubt and regains confidence, pushed by a mysterious presence urging him beyond his comfort zone. His anxiety manifests as a delayed reflection in the dance studio mirror. The film culminates in a dance sequence where his reflection moves ahead of time.
Housekeeping (2024)
A cleaner and a resident get into a disagreement about a stain on the resident’s shirt—jam, or something far more sinister?
Anmol Rishta (2024)
In the relentless chaos of Mumbai, Sonali stumbles upon a Khatiya washed ashore—an object that offers more than just rest. As she hauls it through the city’s unforgiving streets, it vanishes in an instant. Her search leads to exhaustion, desperation, and an unexpected moment of solace. But Mumbai is a city of twists, and the end of her journey brings more than she ever expected.
Misdirected (2024)
Sam is on a mission to make people smile. His unorthodox approach, paired with an innocent charm and magical skills, leaves a lasting impression on his audience. Misdirected is a mockumentary series centered around a group of working magicians, their peculiar styles, and weird personalities. Blending comedy and magic, the cast and crew hail from professional magic and comedy backgrounds, creating a unique show inspired by The Office, What We Do in the Shadows, and Spinal Tap—but with a (real) magical twist.
Total running time for the PROGRAM: ˜90 minutes
MONO NO AWARE SCREENING SERIES:
