PROGRAM:
EFÊMERA PARADOXAL : A solitary woman drifts through, shadowed by a mysterious creature that evokes fear. As she struggles to escape its presence, fragments of the natural world reveal themselves in intimate detail: moldy fruits, shells, the flame of a candle. These quiet observations reflect the inevitable transformations that time inscribes on all things. A Dante sculpture is found, in search of answers. Is she in Heaven or Hell? In the film’s climax, the figure discovers that the creature pursuing her is not a stranger, after all, but her own older self. Fear gives way to recognition, and recognition turns into acceptance. The film becomes a meditation on memory, mortality, and the beauty of impermanence.

EFÊMERA PARADOXAL , 2025
Filmed on
Super 8, 16mm, with 35mm stills incorporated, screening digitally.
