PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
In-between Gestures brings together a series of hybrid moving image works that explore the intersection of domestic solitude and poetic observation. From the quiet pursuit of a missing sock to the reflective surfaces of New York City, Süheyla Noyan’s work lingers on overlooked details where language begins to falter and images take over. The works invite the viewer to dwell within the textures and transitions of everyday life.

Bio
Süheyla Noyan is an interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker. She holds an MFA in Cinema from Binghamton University with a background in law and sociology. Before turning to film making, she practiced law while actively engaging in theatre and community arts initiatives.
Working with hybrid forms, she utilizes both analog and digital media to trace overlooked narratives that may not seek to be seen but deserve attention. Her films have been recognized internationally, including receiving the Social Impact Award at the Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition (Türkiye) and the Women’s Rights Award at the Très Court Film Festival (France). Currently, she is an instructor at Alfred State College (SUNY) Digital Media and Animation Department.
MONO NO AWARE SCREENING SERIES:
The CONNECTIVITY THROUGH CINEMA series will present the work of artists, film-makers and curators who are traveling or presenting special interactive programs in-person. Our hope is to engage the community by showing work with a focus on post-screening discussion. This series is made possible by support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).
