SPOOL YOUR OWN 35MM STILL FILM FROM BULK CANS OF MOTION PICTURE FILM!
LEARN TO PURCHASE, BULK LOAD, SHOOT AND PROCESS FINE GRAIN PRINT STOCKS (WITH AN ASA OF 10) AND HOW TO CROSS PROCESSING AS REVERSAL TO CREATE DETAILED SLIDES : ) **PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE TWO OFFERINGS; B/W & COLOR**
In this workshop participants will be introduced to the process of bulk loading your own 35mm still film. The ability to spool your own film will open a whole new world of film stock options for still photographers; discontinued film options, short ends, rare stocks, and in this workshop we’ll be using special motion picture film print stock originally designed for making projection ready prints at the movie theater! Each participant will learn to bulk load from a 2000’ can of Kodak Film, we’ll discuss how to identify stocks for sale, resources for purchasing in the future, and how to shoot an exposure test to better understand its limitations and its possibilities as a still camera film. Curriculum will also cover how to mix chemistry for and how to cross-process the film as a positive image to generate fine grain slides in Black and White and COLOR. After we shoot a roll as a group, process and view the results, with your own camera you'll shoot and process a roll in the workshop. Additionally, your shot rolll will be scanned by the Bushwick Community Darkroom and each student will take home an additional roll of this film to shoot and process at a later date! Bring your own 35mm still camera, then all film stock, canisters, chemicals and related equipment will be provided for. Scroll through the images below to see some of the fine grain results…
