"MONO X: Screening at the Dungeon"

A curated evening of selected shorts featuring artists and projects we have worked with. The night will include films from Celia Rowlson-Hall, Orit Ben-Shitrit*, Fritz Donelly, Ted Wiggin, Jesse Flower-Ambroch*, Sammy Davis Jr* and Sam Kuhn*. (* Denotes films dB has worked on.)
Working with video, photography, performance and choreography, Orit Ben-Shitrit utilizes movement and bodies to implicate the powers that be, their mechanisms of domination and the potential for violence. Born and raised in Israel, Orit is based in New York, where she was recently awarded a NYFA fellowship in Film/Video. Ben-Shitrit has exhibited at MACRO museum, Rome; El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe; the Herzliya and Haifa Museums of Art; as well as in Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, Russia, the US and China. Her work is featured in BIM 2016— Biennial of Moving Image at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires. Ms. Ben-Shitrit graduated with an MFA in studio art from Hunter college. She teaches video in the Photography department of The New School / Parsons.
Celia Rowlson-Hall - Celia Rowlson-Hall graduated from North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in Modern Dance and Choreography. She has worked as a choreographer for film and television, working with directors such as Gaspar Noe and Lena Dunham. She has also choreographed VMA award winning music videos for bands such as MGMT, Chromeo, and Sleigh Bells. Celia has written and directed over fifty short films and videos. These videos have garnered several awards including an Emmy nomination and have been screened at festivals such as SXSW, SFIFF, Rooftop Films, Glasgow, French and German television, and art fairs such as the Armory Show, Performa, and the New Museum.
Ted Wiggin makes short films and software for animation. He strives to bend the computer towards traditional animation and analog techniques. His films attempt to show rational systems that transcend their own logic. He lives in New York, works as a compositor at Hornet Inc and teaches at the New School.
Fritz Donelly - You are so great, now feel it... between your toes!
Tim Korn is a sound designer based in Queens NY. His experience with location sound bonds with his interests in sound design. He travels the world recording sounds and has his base here in Williamsburg. He has had the pleasure of collaborating musicians and filmmakers to make sonically rich environments and live performances.
Dungeon Beach is a post facility located in Williamsburg who specializes in sound design and color correction. dB brings films, tv shows and art to life by sculpting the sound of its surroundings and designing a visual ascetic. dB has worked extensively with leading influential content creators including VICE and TED. They have sound designed TV series and films including Jodorowsky's Dune, MA and various Viceland series. dB has also colored for HBO, MTV, Marcel Dzama and Kenneth Cole.
Tim Korn and Dungeon Beach have collaborated with MONO since 2013. MONO workshop participants learn how to record audio in the field and follow through with their sound by crafting the design and nurture their film in a state of the art mixing environment.
