SHOOTING & PROCESSING HI-CON FILM
LEARN TO SHOOT AND PROCESS HI-CONTRAST BLACK AND WHITE FILM STOCK + PRESENT YOUR FILM AT OUR SCREENING PARTY
In this workshop participants will be introduced to HI-CONTRAST optical film stock, Kodak's 3378E. We'll work as a group to shoot a roll of this HI-CON film to better understand its limitations and its possibilities as a camera stock. Curriculum will cover the basics of loading ESTAR film stocks, how to expose properly, how to cross-process the film, and preparation for projection. We'll use the H16 Bolex Reflex camera, and prime lenses to shoot, various lab equipment along with a LOMO developing tank and an EIKI SSL-O projector! We will go over key chemical reactions, how to mix our own B/W reversal chemistry. Additionally, each student will take home a 100’ roll of this film to shoot and process at a later date! All chemicals and equipment will be provided. Films will be ready to screen at the end of the session. You'll finish with a well planned test film that will allow you to shoot your own roll with confidence. Finished projects will also be presented after the conclusion of the course at our screening party at Anthology Film Archives!
