INTRO TO 16MM COLOR FILM MAKING

In this workshop participants will learn how to make a 16mm film from start to finish.  Curriculum covers camera options, contemporary color negative film stock options, exposure, lenses, filters, you'll also learn how to load, focus, run, maintain and operate the H16 Bolex Reflex camera.  Participants will spend one day shooting, then meet again to view their raw footage to learn how to edit on a vertical editing station in order to prepare their print for projection. The goal is to create and project a short color film on 16mm which you conceived, directed, shot, splice edited, and project independently.  We will also discuss how to promote your short piece through a list of friendly film festivals and community venues in the greater New York area.  All materials will be provided for. Finished projects will premiere at our screening party* More details below. ** SPECIAL OPTION THIS MONTH ** Combine this class with the Shooting titles on 16mm workshop to learn how to shoot your own titles onto hi-con stock using another camera system, the Oxberry animation stand!
